"Manifesting Grit and Resilience as Twenty-first century Leaders" - What a timely, profound theme from the recently held Student Leadership Discourse at this time of great change!
Knowing how to collaborate and build influential partnerships in their institutions is a key skill for student leaders to develop. The Discovery Bay High School under the Twinning Initiative with York Castle High School and an invitation to the Ferncourt High School hosted a seminar promoting unity amongst the institutions by maintaining a high level of professionalism and discipline.
In the words of Buju Banton's 2020 hit, 'Unity,' the only way forward is unification and that time is now at hand. Strongly supporting the need for this integration within the region, York Castle High School's Students' Council President-elect, Dontae Minto encouraged the student leaders and other stakeholders to continue the collaboration to build collective efficacy amongst the respective institutions. He believes this is an initiative that should be strengthened and remain as one of the region's leadership efforts to bring about an effective change.

Student representative from the Discovery Bay High School, Milan Smith also expressed her appreciation for the seminar's focus of building resilient leaders through unified forces. Ferncourt High School's students were in agreement of this partnership to enhance the dire need for quality leadership within the region.
Endorsed by the institutions' principals, and associated stakeholders, unity is strength and when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can definitely be achieved.
However, there are many conflicts that are associated with collaborated leadership that are often swept under the carpet. But, we do trust that our student leaders will represent with diligence and work towards the betterment of student welfare across the region.
