The question on everybody's mind: Are we ever going back to school? A conflicting topic but one that definitely needs attention. It is truly conflicting because we want face to face learning but at the same time we have to think about our health. As of March of last year most if not all of us were exposed to online learning for the first time. A happy experience for some and a sad experience for others. Listening to my peers I realized that for most of us online learning may never cross paths with learning online. Personally I want to go back to school but I understand that due to a rise in the Covid-19 cases it is in our best interest to stay home and continue online based learning.
Online learning has receded my hunger for education. Accustomed to face to face interactions, I yearn for an experience as that again, however, I try to condition my mind to accept and process what I've been taught but I honestly can't say I've been successful in such endeavor. Is this a school year where parents money will be wasted?
Another question that has been brought to my attention is that seeing that the cases are rising, especially in the vicinity of Brown's Town and will continue to rise, when it's time for us to sit our exams what will the process be? Imagine a student still at the same academic level as they were from October. I think this is a matter to be considered by the head of the Caribbean Examination Council. Does our health and education really matter or is it more about the finances?
I don't want to seem inconsiderate but what about us students who are not striving academically through online learning? What does the future hold for us? I know we're trying our best and let us continue doing our best until we are finally allowed to go back to school. Let us continue motivating each other through this difficult period in our school journey.
