We often take a break from our studies by engaging in school activities; spirit week, funday... you pick your poison. However, due to our limitations we have been limited to online activities somewhat slowing down activities that usually exhilarates us all; the Council elections. It has been speculated that the elections may take place earlier than expected this year. But is it really to be considered as an early election on account of the fact that most schools are already in election mode?
It is to be assumed that the elections will be dictated by the present council in parallel to the certitude that it is their positions that are being opened for anyone candidate to fill. Given this information, by which method of virtue will the present council take to ensure the integrity of the upcoming elections?
Will the elections transpire online in the same manner that the SFA’s elections did?
Who will the candidates be?
Is it within the realms of possibility that Amanda Slew will take over from Mark Johnson and make her mark on the Yorkist council as she did while a student at the Ferncourt High School?
If not Amanda then is it achievable for Ricardo Daley? Seeing as he had a promising record in the last elections...
Can we look forward to Paul Jones and Gabrielle Williams going head to head in a run for presidency?
Will Rachelle Wright return for financial director or will she have a contest with Amelia Taylor for the position?
Will Dontae Minto step out of council politics?
Is it on the cards for Mark Johnson to become the new Chairman?
Will the return of Sabia Anderson rip away Moesha Morrison's Position of PRO?
While all positions are open to suitable candidates, it is paramount that all upcoming candidates be made aware of the responsibility and are strategic with their plans to follow through. While the “best” may not always win, it is always a good opportunity to prove to yourself what is accomplishable. I urge my fellow schoolmates to participate as I have a hunch that this year’s elections will be fresh and worthwhile.
