Everyone wants to end the year in fun and excitement however, with the current pandemic some of these events have to be placed on hold. Others have been innovative enough to move their events online so to prevent cancelling end annual traditions, York Castle High is a perfect example. The Students' Council body of York Castle High would usually host an event called Icebox (a disco room) for the students to relax and celebrate the school year coming to a close however this year that would be impossible, so they came together and hosted their very first Night Box, a virtual version of an Icebox. I spoke with the president of the council, Mark Johnson, who was proud to say the event was successful.

"The event was very successful. We had a combined turn out of almost 2000 people which was a record number in our history", he stated. Amongst those who attended were people from across the island, there were students from York Castle, St. Hilda's, Munroe, Brown's Town High , Hampton, Jamaica College, Wolmer's, Rusea's and Belmont Academy, it's safe to say this really was a huge event.
Night box is believed to be the event of the year by the students but when asked Mark stated that the school's Spirit Week held back in February was undeniably the event of the year. Ofcourse the question had to be asked, are there plans for this exciting event to be held again? The reply was it might become an annual or momentary event, we just have to keep our fingers crossed. I'm positive the students' would be ecstatic to have another Nightbox hosted by the Student's Council and maybe the numbers will rise.
